i don't actually see why you need these pets... do they have some kind of meaning?

most vamps travel alone or in solitary groups and sometimes the pets play a role in the life of the character

example:

As my dog ran into the ally i followed screaming "come back here bruno." Then to my disbelief i saw a tall solitary figure standing in a dark corner and bruno was laying on the floor with bite marks on his neck. I took sevral steps back as he said "come here little one" I started to turn to run but as I turned I found the man standing infront of me, I looked into his eyes and became transfixed in there beauty. I did nothing as he bent down to bite my soft pale neck.
